What is actually
going on?
Since June 2019 the question "What is actually going on?" has gathered three artists based in St. Petersburg Marina Shamova, Anya Kravchenko and Valentina Lutsenko in a temporary collective. Valentina Lutsenko (b. 1988, Uzhur, Russia). Since 2012 Valentina has worked in the field of contemporary dance and performance, as dancer, teacher, performer, choreographer. She focuses on embodied accessible knowledge and development of practices of individual expertise while being in radical listening of the collective body.
Marina Shamova (b.1990, Sebezh, Russia). Marina engaged in the practices of performance, contemporary dance, art and psychoanalysis; queer feminism and LGBTQ + activism. Leads movement practice and theme laboratories for children and adults. They are a lyric writer and a participant of the Music Cooperative Techno-poezia.
Anya Kravchenko (b.1985, Berdyansk, Ukraine) – artist, dancer, choreographer. Since 2014 produces work, where she investigates non-dual interactions between the bodies of different nature. Last two years she has run SDVIG performance arts studio (sdvig.space) in a collective with other artists.
"What is actually going on?" – is a performance, in which three dance artists agree to spend time with each other and with the objects to dwell on ontological issues with care and queer(vi)rtousity. With this work we raise the question, which is on the tip of the tongue in any insoluble moment. And there are many answers and we get to know them and get rid of them, as each new answer shapes the reality and the only useful knowledge one can gain is to be shaped along with it. This work finds its roots in dance practices and somatic consciousness, which were developed within the safety of computation era, and may contain an immunity towards its threads. The body-mind trained to be aware of its limits learns how to keep doors open toward infinite unknown. With a zoom room as a stage this work invites more of our unfiltered lives inside – more of us with less of us: making borders of our bodies blurry and learning our somas to embrace their digital incarnations.
