The Academy of Whistling Through Tears

Whistling is a practice which is accessible for everyone and does not need any device. We can easily communicate with the help of whistling signals anywhere. However, there are thousands of examples of a crucial repression of this fantastic gesture and sound. The main goals of this school are to remove the taboo over this useful skill in order to free communication from technologies; to develop a whistling discipline; to create a common signal system to evaluate survival skills.
The Academy is free. All teachers will get salaries and students will be granted scholarships.

ЕУ - «eredovoe udozhestvo» - is a cooperative of partisan artists from St-Petersburg existing since 2014.
This multidisciplinary group whose choice of a name already expresses their poetic stance: dropping the first consonants of the Russian words peredovoe khudozhestvo (advanced artistry) is a consciously infantile move, although it yields something that sounds a little like early transrational Futurist poetry. One of the group's founders, the Saint Petersburg poet Roman Osminkin, works through subversion and over-affirmation. Group, working in genres of poetry and video performance, music plays, cabaret theatre, street/urban art, DIY-zine magazines, recycling and re-use things and media. The cooperative invents new forms of sensibility and minority art practices that prepare for the age of post-humanism. Therefore the collective consists of poets, musicians, feminists, things, fruits, vegetables, molecules, and neurons.

ELLAS is a work that explores the figure of a woman. It's not only the story of one woman but many women.
The journey reflects an internal conflict for finding self-acceptance and empowerment.
The piece plays with folk Spanish rhythms and reflecting my cultural heritage and the foundation of who I am today.

"Flying Cooperation" offers participants to sharpen the key survival skill of a contemporary worker in a cruel world outside the bunker – the ability of self-glorification. Gathered together, the precariums-mutants will call to their super powers and try to bring them to the parade-defile. The meeting will end with an autograph session. Since 2015 the "Flying Cooperation" works on the questions of precarious labour and vulnerability of cultural workers and proposes visions of "survival" in the larger sense of this term. The very existence of our scattered collective, that positions itself as semi-anonymous, becomes a testing ground of the futurist model of the affective hybrid unit, in which friendship and work merge.

Every artist has faced this problem that s/he realises far less than conceived. It can be connected with the lack of resources, finances or motivation. Some postpone ideas for the better times. Some are suffering under this load. The concept of the authorship was seriously questioned by the poststructuralism focused on the dominance of meaning formative text upon an author's individuality. These days, rough competitive conditions of cognitive capitalism drive back to the individualism. The irony is how by the name of the one artist can work an entire enterprise. In the frames of a constant psychological and financial stress the very process of creation, and mainly, the pleasure from the creation process, severely suffer.
We believe that art not only serves to fulfil the growing demands of art-market, we believe in the power of meaning. That's why the unrealised ideas must live!

The Great Circus of Failure

Interactive performance in the form of circus show. The performance is constructed as a movement through a series of small circus acts. This movement creates the space and the ground for the final grandiose impossible trick, the cathartic finale, which the participants will heroically fail. The circus, representing virtuosity opposite to the virtuosity of "grand" arts, forms the political space in a special way, creating a local point of refuge for the viewer. At the same time, the circus space, which preserved the closeness of medieval guilds (many circus people inherit the profession not in the first generation), creates a vaguely stable shelter for its participants, basically representing a meta-stable temporary autonomous zone separated from capitalist existence. The failure of the final grandiose trick is an obvious refrain not so much to the impossibility of a great utopia, but to instability and the need for permanent movement (geographical and topological) of the shelter.

How political power as a tool for the good of all, disrupts itself into a drifting decay. The performance is based on the impact that (fake) news, irresponsible politics and spread of fear can have. I will be sharing the latest reports from the increasingly unstable outside world, but who is inside can never be definitely sure about what is actually happening. After all, inside the Bunker, there won't be any other sources.

"Valitse hetki" ("Choose a moment")

combines poetry (in Finnish) and sound art. The text is written and performed by Finnish poet Mari Laaksonen and the sound space is created by Irish sound artist Frankie Shannon. The text analyzes melancholy and repeats questions about where and from what do we run away from. Escapism is directed towards the peace and quiet of the space but becomes dangered to decay on the very first moments as the metaphors derived from history of their lives. Laika the Space Dog dies from a heart attack. The message Voyager carries is at the same time violent and meaningless. And the heavenly bodies of Lars von Trier, Antoine de Saint Exupery and Andrei Tarkovsky offer no place for rest as each and every philosophy includes the ingredients of their own destruction.

HOLE DWELLERS

An experiment in practice of navigating through the Holey Space. All visitors are given a map with a scheme of "Holes" with the position of the performer marked as "Main Hall". Visitors are invited to listen to the sounds of live performance from different positions – in each hole invisible sonorous forces are reflexed, transformed and materially (as well as rhythmically) mutate due to specific geometry of the surfaces of Cave.
